1. Not all people suck, but life surely sucks...
Which could cast a huge pall of suckery over everything and everyone I imagine. I work hard not to look at everyone and everything they say as sucktastic, but it's hard not to. I want sucky, Pollyanna me back.

3. I get that suckery totally
sucktastic, that's a good one to remember as something not to strive for.

not all people suck

but life does in so many ways that one never imagines, suck.

I guess it is the best kept secret in the world.

Yet it isn't.

10. But yanno Laura
I love ya anyway, and I'm really upbeat too

giant sucking sound. Tell her she listened to too much Ross Perot. That giant sucking sound is the sound of jobs being sucked out of this country. You are just not a sucky person. Sorry that people would say that, sometimes things are just sucky.

13. She didn't mean me being sucky (dear lord... i hope not ;) )
Edited on Mon Mar-24-08 09:48 PM by MrsGrumpy
She mean the suckery of the situation. My father is going to be laid off soon due to the sucky 1 month long (so far) strike at American Axle. Basically the last stand of the UAW here in Detroit.

And you are a very nice person...who is being way too nice to sucky old me.

2. I honestly think the majority of people are basically good
I don't believe people suck. I think when you can take people one at a time, you find that they have a core of goodness to them. It's when they get in groups, and that herd mentality kicks in that things get ugly.

We are all just flawed beings.

6. flawed beings in herd mentalities
seem to have great suckage.

but you make a good point, I used to believe basic goodness, and maybe that is still there. I look at people rather cynically now. I see what they "want" and it is almost always for themselves and not the good of anyone else. (I have to include myself in that I'm sure)

People do sucky things. Maybe that doesn't mean they suck themselves except when they are engaging in great suckage.

7. What about unintentional suckage though?
I.E., sucky things people do just out of ignorance/stupidity... in areas where people are overwhelmingly ignorant and/or stupid.

9. considering the average IQ is 100
that means that statsitically half fall somewhere at or below that. Half the people may be much more ignorant that sucky, but some ignorant people are sucky.

What worries me is the above 100 who are suckier and smarter than that and should be less sucky if they had a conscience?

11. Exactly my point.
There are people who have the brains but don't use them... and therefore suck. :P

12. Does unintentional sucking make a person suck?
Edited on Mon Mar-24-08 09:48 PM by skygazer
I'm not sure. I guess it would depend on the suckage and whether the person made any effort to learn anything from the suck incident.

Maybe I'm too much of an optimist - which is an odd thing for a depressive to be but I always have to be different. Oddly, I think I feel the way I do largely because I'm a longtime and long-distance hitchhiker.

If you want to see the good side of people, stand by the side of a road in the middle of nowhere at 11 o'clock at night with your thumb out. I suppose the fact that someone stops in the first place is indicative of the fact that they're a nice person (or an axe murderer) but it still makes me think that most people want to be nice, want to help others, want to do the right thing.

And maybe I'm just talking out my ass again. :P

14. Desire means very little if the action to follow up said desire isn't there.
Most people want to do good... but few do.

16. That depends on your definition of doing good
There are people every day who are nice to their grandmother, or who open the door for someone, or who thank the person at the grocery store, or who recycle, or who comfort a child who has fallen down, or who do any of a zillion other things that could be defined as a good thing. Maybe that doesn't seem like enough - I don't know what your defintion is.

17. Oh, I'm not saying we all need to be the next Ghandi.
If everyone spent their time doing nothing but nice things we'd get nothing done and we'd all starve to death. :P

But the ones who do suck seem to be 100x louder than the rest.

8. It seems like more and more
people seem to be sucking

but, maybe I am jaded, I see and work with a suckage society often. I seen people neglected, abused, hurt, etc.

I see the suckers trying to suck more... I see the system that doesn't protect the suckee from the suckers very well

I see people sworn to protect the suckees looking for ways out of protecting the suckee from the sucker.

I start thinking that the protectors are as sucky as the suckers.

The suckees may have been suckers at one time I don't know, but I know that suckage is everywhere.

Unless you mean, do they suck in a bad way. Um, unfortunately, I think many people do. People are inherently self-centered and selfish both individually and collectively. Especially collectively.

Last time I talked to her she was doing great.
Busy with things regarding her education.

And I agree with her somewhat.
People can and do suck..Not all of them do
But enough of them do.
