Some say that Drambuie (the Golden Fire) is seasonal. That's bullshit from people who don't know what's good.

8. That's my favorite too.
I could probably eat the whole pie by myself. I never do though 'cause the thought of the tummy ache that would follow gives me some self-control.

18. Cornbread anything is great on Thanksgiving
My contribution to the Thanksgiving meal every year is cornbread. That's about the limits of my culinary skills.

except this year my sister in law used a sweet cornbread mix to make it, God that was awful, and dammit it looked so pretty in the pan. I was sorely disappointed too.

23. on this list, the Thanksgiving Turkey, dead however my favorite holiday specific food
from growing up was always coconut cake, ambrosia and boiled custard, THE DESSERT for Christmas dinner. Period.
Even if we also had: jam cake, German Chocolate Cake, Granny's chocolate brazilnut cake, my aunt's divinity and fudge and my other grandmother's Norwegian cookies, and several kinds of pie.

Coconut cake, ambrosia and boiled custard are the BOMB.

I also am very fond of home made dinner rolls, which are an essential part of holiday meals.

my mom also always made a to die for frozen fruit salad, and there was always a country ham

26. Coconut cake, yummmmmm....and Norwegian cookies...
I grew up with all the Norski stuff, but these days my favorites are adopted from my husband's family: poppy seed kolacky (Czech sweet rolls) and mocha cakes. I have no clue why they call them "mocha" cakes, 'cos there isn't a hint of anything remotely mocha about 'em *lol* but they're divine. Very labor intensive, but worth every minute.
