She walked in beauty, like the night.
So there I was in the first checkout lane, right by the door. I'd had to go to the store to get some cat food before I settled in for the night, so while a client's computer was getting a virus scan I decided I'd have enough time to get to the store and back and not waste time.

Like I said, there I was. Suddenly I looked up--- and there SHE was. Impossibly tall. Impossibly gorgeous. Impossibly long legs- I could tell because she was wearing impossibly form-fitting gym shorts.

Her hair was curly, and it cascaded half way down her back. It was very dark- not quite black, not quite brown. Dark chocolate.

She had one of those perfect faces- sculpted chin, magnificent red mouth, sparkling blue eyes.

I was in love.

But it would never happen- I was on my way out, and she was on her way in. She moved past me on the opposite side of a vegetable stand, and by the time I could command my head to turn she was five aisles away. Those perfect legs of hers carried her rapidly out of my vision and out of my life.

I stood for a moment, watching the last place I'd seen her. But she didn't come back. She would NEVER come back. So I sighed, I gathered up my canned kitty food, and I forced myself to walk out the door.

There was already a woman in my life, and she was waiting for me to buy her supper.

Time to go home and let my kitty cat know she was still my first and only love.

Life is good.

1. Your imagination is probably better than what
reality would be.

Imagine it, enjoy the imagination of it, then get over it.

You were buying dinner for someone else, and probably so was she.

Life IS good.

2. What makes you think I haven't had the reality?
Because I have.

10. Just for you
THE STORYTELLER
(A Fantasy)

What fantasy is this,
that he forsakes
the world around him?
The fantasies abound,
and cause him to retreat
beyond the hedgerows
of reality-

Ignoring passers-by;
for spirits in his mind
will whisper tales to him
of other worlds
and unseen things,
and he delights in
listening to them all.

The "real world" goes ignored
by him- It's useless!
(So his spirits say....)
He is content to let it
spin on by-

He's got a tapestry to weave,
with rich and varied colors
intertwining in his mind
(to tell another story...)
It's just another fantasy
reality will never,
ever see.

4. Reminds me of the old newspaperman's story from "Citizen Kane".
"I only saw her for a moment, fifty years ago, but I'll bet not a month has gone by since when I haven't thought of her..."

12. Ya gotta take it one moment at a time.
In reality, that's all there ever is.
