It's an oldie...female singer...very distinctive voice (imagine Fran Drescher for a rough approximation), it might be a love song... I can hear it so clearly in my head, but I can't remember a single lyric for sure! Theres a strong emphasis on the very first word of the song, which I'm almost sure is "how" The opening is something like this

How lovely is the moon
doo dee doo doo doo doo doo dee...
doo. doooo dee doo doo-doo-doo
doo doo doo doo doo....

I know that's very little to go on, but its the best I can do without being able to hum it for you. It's been a decade at least since I've heard it, and I'd like to listen to it again if I could figure out what it was.

If anyone can figure this out, that person will be so awesome! Thanks!

1. Slayer! Reign in Blood!

Sorry, if it's a love song than I'm clueless.

Well, I'm clueless either way, but in this instance, just about love songs. :)

I've actually never heard a Slayer song that I'm aware of. Interesting guess, though!

3. Genre? Apx. year?
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 02:59 AM by Dangerously Amused

Part? (soprano? alto?)

Singer's ethnicity & apx. age?

Back up vocals or solo?

What kind of band/instruments? Any emphasis on a particular instrument or instruments?

Edit: Wait, is it this?

How do you keep the music playing?
How do you make it last?
How do you keep the song from fading too fast?
How do you lose yourself to someone?
And never lose your ways
How do you not run out of new things to say?
And since we're always changing
How can it be the same?
And tell me how year after year
You're sure your heart will fall apart
Each time you hear his name
I know the way I feel for you
It's now or never
The more I love the more that i'm afraid
That in your eyes I may not see forever..
Forever...

If we can be the best of lovers
Yet be the best of friends
If we can try with everyday to make it better as it grows
With any luck, then I suppose
The music never ends

I know the way I feel for you
It's now or never!
(How do you keep the music playing?)
The more I love the more that I'm afraid
(How do you make it last)
That in your eyes I may not see forever
Forever...
(How do you keep the song from fading, keep the song from fading too fast)
If we can be the best of lovers
Yet be the best of friends
If we can try with everyday to make it better as it grows
With any luck, then I suppose
The music never ends

James Ingram did the most famous version, but Maureen McGovern, Shirley Bassey and Barbara Streisand also recorded it.

5. Fly Me To The Moon?

Fly me to the moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars...

8. Strawberry Moon by Vaughn Monroe?
Here's the Grover Washington, Jr. version:

http://www.rhapsody.com/groverwashingtonjr/strawberrymoon

The original version is by Vaughn Monroe and his Orchestra (vocals by Vaughn Monroe and his Moon Maids):

Oh The Moon, lovely moon.
What a heavenly Strawberry Moon.

There's A Strawbery Moon,
In a blueberry sky,
In a garden high over the city.
You've never seen it so pretty,
Even your ma and your pa never saw,
Such A Strawberry Moon,
In a blueberry sky,
Glowing over two starry-eyed people,
Gazing at stars round the steeple,
Of the church where I'll marry
You soon,
Under A Strawberry Moon.

Oh the moon, lovely moon
What a heavenly Strawberry moon.

There's A strawberry cottage
In blueberry Lane
On the outskirts of merry Manhattan.

Furnished with silks and with satins,
Curtains are mates, as the wind blows
at play.

That old strawberry moon,
In a blue berry sky,
On a strawberry patch in the garden,
So glad we put in our garden,
We're expecting some blackberries soon
Under A Strawberry Moon.

Oh the moon, lovely moon.
What a heavenly strawberry moon.

There's a strawberry sail,
On a blueberry sea,
On a dreamboat
All loaded with treasure,
Bringing a lifetime of pleasure,
And our ship may be coming in soon,
Under A Strawberry Moon.

Oh the moon, lovely moon,
What a glorious strawbery moon
What a glorious strawberry moon.

VAUGHN MONROE AND HIS ORCHESTRA
VOCALS BY VAUGHN MONROE (VM) & THE MOON MAIDS(MM)

9. Or perhaps, "How High the Moon" by Ella Fitzgerald?
Somewhere theres music
How faint the tune
Somewhere theres heaven
How high the moon
There is no moon above
When love is far away too
Till it comes true
That you love me as I love you

Somewhere theres music
How near, how far
Somewhere theres heaven
Its where you are
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon

Somewhere theres music
How faint the tune
Somewhere theres heaven
How high the moon
The darkest night would shine
If you would come to me soon
Until you will, how still my heart
How high the moon
