I was not in a giving mood. Then he sat around and did nothing but talk to friends and family all morning. He is working on my last bit of patience.

7 minutes prior to your scheduled time and not speaking directly to the person and having him/her acknowledge they'll fill in for you is unacceptable on both counts.

We have three people in my department. And the other guy who comes in a 8 AM, I called him and he said he had pulled muscle in his back and had called our manager to say he was coming in later (which is bullshit, every time he says that he never shows up). So, I had to come in or there would be no one working in our department. My manager said he never got a call from the muscle pull guy, he just got a text message. And the VPs are not understanding when you say, well give us more people. They just expect it to be done, and if something is missed because of us being short people, it's not "we understand, it is ok", no it is a royal ass chewing.
