The Surreal Ticket: Gravel/Paul 2008?
Well, now that Democratic iconoclast, Mike Gravel has become a Libertarian, what do you think the chances are of a Paul/Gravel or Gravel/Paul Libertarian ticket?

I think they'd be a hoot at the debates.

1. Paul/Gravel would be very interesting.
They'd be a good odd couple (all puns completely intended) because of their differences on issues like abortion and health-care. I agree, the debates would be fantastic. People on DU can say what they want about these men but no one can claim that they're boring during debates, especially when you can see how uncomfortable everyone else on stage is when they speak.

2. Gravel and Paul are the "thanks, but no thanks" candidates
Both of them are prone to say common-sense things that no one wants to hear, but make you go "yes!"

So they'll say one thing, and you go "yes!" Then they say another, and it's also "yes!" and then they say, "and that's why I should be President," and you say, "Oh... no."

12. Gravel just announced he was switching to the Libertarian Party this morning
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 01:47 PM by theredpen
Ron Paul was the Libertarian candidate for President in 1988.

Not sure where you got the "neither are Libertarians" — I guess Paul isn't a Libertarian currently, although there are rumors he may run on their ticket again.

14. i mean their political views
and how they have voted etc. paul may claim to be a libertarian but political philosophy wise, he doesn't fit it.
