1. That's gorgeous. That wee little fawn-
thanks for the peaceful shot. Did you take it near where you live? Do you get to see this kind of thing a lot?

2. It got emailed to me. With the explanation that mom comes back for fawn. Wish
I could say I lived so out in the wilderness that I could capture such a photo. But I don't.

3. Well, that was a sweet post. When I go to my
father's house we can see deer in the back woods, sometimes six or so at a time. I love those pictures; it'd be the kind of email I'd enjoy getting. I'm glad you shared them.

5. I just saw the kitty-pile pics too. Someone needs to get busy and harness
the power that pictures like that (and this) have over us. Frankly, the kitty-pile rendered me speechless. I was reduced to goo. I was goo-ified.

13. Nothing like newborns. Human or animal. They are like a drug.

8. I love the way they seem to have no sense of their own size.
I think my cat thinks she's bigger than me.

Is it?

Nice photos, I bet the fawn felt safe with them.

18. oh, such sweetness!
Those are lovely, thank you for posting. When I lived in the mountains in Virginia, every once in a while from our deck we'd spy a teeny, tiny fawn - momma had parked him/her there for a bit while she went to get her nails done (ha ha - for whatever reason) and she'd usually come get the little sweet thing a few hours later. *sigh*

21. I know the elk in Banff National Park try and live near/in the city of Banff
because they know there are no predators there. Maybe the deer you saw parked her fawn near you because it was safe.

19. The deer and fawns graze with my mare and her pasture mates at the farm where she lives.
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 11:28 AM by CottonBear
The deer herd is so used to us (people) that they don't even get started or run away when we are working at the farm. The deer and the horses eat grass side by side! They get along fine. The Canada Geese and wild turkeys hang out with the horses too!

It is hard to believe that such a tiny fawn came out of hiding to graze with those big horses though! It was supposed to stay hidden where momma left it! Naughty fawn!

:)
