then why not consider doing some volunteer work for an animal shelter?

In Colorado here, kitten season has started and there is a tremendous need for foster parents. It is so sweet to take in a mama cat and her offspring or some kittens that have been weaned. The shelters have a limit on the number of animals that they can have at one time, so this is a way to help them out. My shelter that I help at www.angelswithpaws.net is very receptive to any type of help- fostering, helping at their fundraisers, socialization, etc.

I even did foster care once for an older brown tabby, Tigger, who came from a woman who had passed away, leaving five cats and two dogs behind. I knew that it was basically hospice care for a cat, but it was really rewarding. We gave Tigger about a year of normal household living and love before he passed away, on his own terms.

I do a fair amount of feral work, and have seven of my own cats so can't do anything now - but as soon as I get into a better situation (and have a home of my own) I'll be doing this.

Thanks for posting this - :hi: I like the idea of what you did for Tigger - taking in the older ones who need consistency in their lives after an owner has died or become otherwise unable to care for them.
