I had a rude awakening this morning

I was laying in bed enjoying my unemployed morning. I sort of rolled over and I saw something crawling on the blanket a few inches from my head.

I thought it might be a spider or a beetle or a moth.

I managed to get my eyes focused on it, and it was a GIANT FUCKING WASP!

My adrenaline level of course just cranked right to 11.

I carefully got out from under the blanket and got a drinking glass and an envelope. I was edging towards it expecting it to come at me ANY SECOND when I decided I should probably put some clothes on.

I went and got in my jeans and rain jacket.

I went and carefully crept up on it, trying to act all nonchalant. I sat there for a minute psyching myself up, and I decided, Okay, count of 5.

I lowered the glass on it and got the envelope underneath.

It didn't really put up a fight. I think it was still a little cold this morning.

Now it's still in the glass on the table.

What do I do with it? :shrug:

9. I know... I'm a vicious, unrepentant slayer of certain pests.

Crickets, doodle bugs, moths, honeybees... all of these are spared my wrath. Wasps, hornets, and most spiders get to meet the shoe of doom!

12. You know, that's an interesting story.

Or really it's not, but I like saying that... anyway I used to LOVE spiders and I still do really think they're very gorgeous creatures and so mystifying with the whole web building and all that... but one day when my older daughter was around 2 a spider bit her arm and the thing nearly exploded (her arm, not the spider), had to take her to the hospital and the docs debated cutting her arm to avoid ripping or tearing. Eeeeeeeeeeeew.

So... ever since then, I have a tendency to smash them if they get too curious. If they stay in their nooks and crannies, I will let them stick around and eat other pesky things. If they come out nosing around, shoe time.

It probably makes little sense, but eh... that's me.

And I once had to let a spider roam around my ceiling for DAYS. Weeks even, maybe. It wouldn't come down to where I could smash it, and I get dizzy standing on top of things and looking up. I think it knew what I was planning, and was avoiding me. It's the only thing that makes sense.

and the last time I killed one it scared the crap out of me.

A couple days ago I saw this one crawling around near my bed first thing in the morning, and I figured it was just pretty much minding its own business, but apparently it likes to spend the night near me, and that's just not cool. I would have smashed it this morning but it was on a blanket and I didn't think it would be easily killed on something soft. And if you don't kill them you just make them MAD.

I know it will come back because I've been seeing it in here for about two weeks, and I think it's building a nest.

One of them nested in here last year, and another one nested in here the year before, and I'm JUST NOT COOL WITH THAT.

Once they start building a nest....I hate those things. I always buy about 4 cans of that wasp killer that will spray about 12 feet and every time we even see one coming around our house we kill them. Maybe you could just leave it under the cup until it dies or try to tip the cup over and fill it with some water. Now I feel like I have bugs crawling on me. Yucky. Why did God have to give them stingers?? Big mistake.
