Looks like another Friday night hanging out alone at the apartment...
Guess I'll make some pizza, watch some Star Trek, and work on a short story I'm writing.

Oh, and hang out with you guys, too. Feel free to keep me company too! :hi:

4. Believe me, I haven't forgotten!
Though I believe tonight is just a half-hour catch-up special, followed by a half hour special talking about BSG's impact on modern culture. The season premier isn't until NEXT Friday, and you'd better believe I'll be watching that one!

5. Tombstone Four Meat pizza with some black olives.
I decided it would be cheaper to buy pizza at the store than ordering tonight, so that's what I'm having.

How YOU doin'? :hi:

I remember the last time I felt urpy... Well I actually don't because I;m not sure I've ever felt "urpy," per se, but I can sympathize!

6. It's nice to have a chill night, even if it's Friday
I'm getting ready to make some sushi. I feel great. It's good to be alive. Got some Dining Rooms playing, chillin, just entirely too happy for no apparent reason. Some days I just have it made.

12. I hear ya! Looks like I'll be going out tomorrow at least.
One of my friends is turning 21 Sunday, and another is turning 21 on Monday so Saturday is going to be party night.

It still would have been nice to go out tonight since I didn't go out at ALL last weekend, but meh... I like chillaxing too!

25. Howdy!
:hi:

Actually, it's for a contest related to Wheezy's novel "Wake" that I stumbled across in the Writing Group last night. I got inspired, so I decided I might as well let my creative juices flow and see where it takes me!

It seems pretty good so far, but I know I'll have to do some editing on it. I always do.

What's your story about?

27. Oooh, NICE. I should look into that, too.
You know, I spent about 2 hours at Borders tonight. I picked up a copy of The Artist's Way (having read & loaned it to 2 people who never returned it), and I also got Trainspotting. I'm doing a few sketches in my book.

My story's called "The Mascot". It's about this 6 foot tall art scholar woman whose current job prospect is a mascot in Disneyland. Goofy. She winds up publicly losing her mind at the end. I wrote a thread on the concept a year ago. Here's the first paragraph:

"Donna Dee applied her lipliner with a shaky hand. She pressed palm to chin for leverage and then rubbed her perfect Icy Mocha lips together. Maybe a little concealer would hide the circles. Some Visine dribbled in to mask last night's dispatch of wine. She would laugh, if she had the luxury of being someone else. It wasn't a hangover any more. This was a slow microwaving of every cell in Donna's body. She was forty, working at Disneyland, and would later fit a huge Goofy mask over her head despite the makeup."

I'll show you the entry in my journal if you want to see it.
:D

*lol*

What if a Mascot at Disneyland was having a REALLY BAD day?

Say it's Goofy. And the woman was hired to wear the costume because she's tall and she's really good at galumphing around. She's PMSsing and just quit smoking. Her dream job at The Smithsonian never panned out, although she was an ace scholar in art and history at a really prestigious college. Being called Goofy every day is beginning to irritate her.

So, her boss calls her into his office and reprimands her. Her lungs are in the process of healing, so she's hocking up oysters in front of the children. She tries to be discreet, but it's really tough. Anyway, he orders her to "stop coughing" and sends her on her way, calling out to her to "go out there and galumph" like she REALLY MEANS it.

All the bathrooms are being worked on, so the's forced to stand in a public line with her bladder aching. Naturally, there is one ladies' room to one men's although the discrepancy between the volume of either sex is out of control. The woman in front of her turns around, holding her little girl's hand. The woman was her worst enemy in high school, and her daughter asks Goofy why she couldn't just go find a fire hydrant.

What Would Goofy Do?

It's a little sample of an obviously more detailed story. Thanks for the link.

30. Any time!
Like I said, it sounds like a very interesting idea for a story. My current roommate actually was a mascot at Disneyland for a couple of years, and she's certainly told me a few horror stories about the job. Sounds like you've definitely got the right idea about how crazy it can make somebody!

Thanks for your link as well! Your sketches are some seriously good stuff. :yourock:

Awesome. God, good luck with your story, too. I know it's going to be good.

I'd give anything to get a few true stories of mascots, myself. I'll look them up or ask around.

Thanks for the compliment, boyo!:D
