Now that she has moved beyond purses and travel bags to organizational materials, I may need to sell a kidney. Or a midlet.

Love, love, love her stuff. Especially the new yellowbird pattern.

1. I used to be, until I found out that the founder and president, Pat Miller,
is a hard-core Republican who had some position in the office of a Republican governor of Indiana :(

2. That doesn't bother me.
They donate a lot to breast cancer causes and have even established a foundation in Vera Bradley's name.

I don't think ALL Republicans are scum, I know too many.

8. Well, OK, I didn't know about the donations.
In that case maybe I'll relent and buy another handbag. I DO like them.

3. It seems like something I should really be into...

I love florals more than the average person, but for some reason I've never been able to get into it. I think the bags remind me too much of diaper bags. :hide: But the patterns are really pretty. I almost bought one of her laptop bags.

5. I like the inside pockets. Makes it really easy to find my glasses,
checkbook, etc.

6. Designer of mid priced handbags and other gadgety things.
http://www.verabradley.com/Site/Home.aspx?r=0&

Coin purses, makeup bags, etc. Has really, really grown in the last few years. My first Vera was a purse with, of all things, chickens on it. It was called Chanticleer and is very rare to find.

Pretty patterns, nice organizational stuff. In other words more crap for me to blow my money on.

9. My company was hosting an event at a convention center....
in Atlanta last year and there was a HUGE Vera Bradley sale there as well. I had never heard of or seen Vera Bradley stuff before and the large crowd of women running to the bags scared the living crap out of me. Before the convention center opened, a line of no less than 100 women formed at the front door.

Many would have several garbage bags stuffed with bags, purses, wallets and whatever else they could grab. One woman was hauling too much stuff and came very close to falling down the escalator. Two women were kicked out because security caught them going in three different times which put them well over their $3K max that all people were limited to. They were screaming and making a huge scene because they wanted more crap. People brought u-hauls because their stuff wouldn't fit in their cars. I saw babies hanging off the arms of their mothers because the strollers were being used to carry the stuffed trash bags. Groups of women would sit on the floor in sheer exhaustion after spending their money and then rummage through their stuff and show each other what they got.

I decided that Vera Bradley is a cult so I stay far far away. :scared:

12. LOL. It definitely is.
I was in the store purchasing some stuff yesterday and one woman was going on and on how she attempted to 'resist' the whole Vera Bradley movement, and I finally told her that 'resistance is futile'. Once you are bitten, you are always susceptible to the new line.

10. It kind of looks like it's made out of my grandma's housecoats.
But then, it's very possible I have no taste in purses n' such.

I don't get it. I think the bags are kind of ugly. Oh well.
