This is why I love Rush. I must see this song live and in concert sometime in my lifetime. And Neil Peart is probably the best living drummer out there EVER and probably the second best rock drummer of all time (behind John Bonham).

BTW, I believe that is 2 members of Bare Naked Ladies with the band (the young good looking guy and the one with the thick glasses)

12. Their music is sterile and lacking in any sort of emotion or passion.
At least to my ears.

20. Read any of Neil Peart's books, and you'll discover...
...there's a lot more emotion and passion behind their songs than you might think.

"Limelight"

Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage

Cast in this unlikely role
Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact

Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem
Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme

Living in a fish eye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend

All the world's indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each another's audience
Outside the gilded cage

24. They're a seminal band...
....for a lot of us who went to high school in the mid to late 70's. I thought they were totally huge, but I've noticed a lot of "overrated" talk lately.

First song of theirs I heard was Working Man.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcxRHqTe5c8&feature=related

No frills guit rock, if you like that kinda thing. They got progged out later, but this was the Rush I loved.

30. Despite what seems to be a common belief at DU about Rush's libertarian ideals
many of their lyrics contain very progressive themes.

Case in point, from Snakes & Arrows, "The Larger Bowl":

http://www.dance-lyrics.com/songs/the_larger_bowl_31983.htm

And from Grace Under Pressure, "Between the Wheels", a song which was written in the early 80's but seems like it's about America in 2008.

32. I'm neutral; love the music, hate Geddy Lee's voice. I've seen them
in concert and, like I said, the music is great; they're all good musicians and they put on a good show, but holy shit, guys...hire a singer. Seriously.

34. Too many notes and not enough song, the singer sounds like a eunuch...
and they think that Ayn Rand is a heavy thinker

What is there to like?
