the fire department
I was sitting on a bench eating my lunch when a fire truck rolled by, sirens blaring, roaring down the street on their way to a fire.
Everybody, and I mean everybody, stopped to look.I myself thought of the day several years ago when my next door neighbors house burned, she was tragically killed by the smoke, but the efforts and dedication of these few small town on-call firefighters was truly awe-inspiring. They were truly sad they couldn't save her.It has stuck with me and I think it will forever.

I work in public relations/advertising and we spend an awful lot of time and effort cultivating public image and brand identity. It struck me that The Fire Department has it like nobody else.

Public Image- I am quite sure not one firefighter on that truck knew any of those small-town firemen I mentioned earlier, and yet when I saw the truck I IMMEDIATELY was transported back to that night in my side yard.I was IMMEDIATELY pulling for them, praying for their safety and awed by their bravery.
There is no finer example of stellar public image I can imagine.

Brand Identity- the red truck, the reflective coats, the siren, the helmets. If these don't communicate brand identity then nothing does.

This is the kind of things I think about on my lunch break. I just wanted to share it with you.
And to any firefighters out there I'd just like to say God Bless you.
