You can be a pot smoker and be in excellent health
You cannot, however, be a drinker and stay in excellent health

I have cut my drinking down to a quarter of what it once was because the belly has risen

Begone burgeoning cellulite!

1. Try using a metal pipe to smoke weed. One you can disassemble.
Use it for about three months and then take it apart (if you still can!). Look at the interior and see how it is coated with thick sticky black resin? Now imagine all of the sticky black resin that didn't get caught in the pipe. You know the same thick black tar that you inhale and that gets atomized and dispersed throughout your lungs over the years slowly clogging every bronchial alveoli...

I agree with what you said about the booze (sho' nuff) but not so much about the weed.

Having said that, however, let me also say this: :smoke:

2. I should have been more clear - USING pot
I vaporize personally - which is safer. You don't burn the stuff in so much as heat it up so that the oils turn to vapor. The oils are what you want, not the plant matter.

I also make brownies, which are 100% safe.

3. Or rather, you WOULD vaporize it or make brownies with it...

if you used it.

But (as far as anyone remotely connected to the government who may be surfing this site knows) you would NEVER do anything like that, right? :P

5. Yeah, after I quit I coughed up nasty garbage for over a week.
It's kind of like when I used to smoke cigarettes. I thought "That crap was in my lungs? Yuck! I'm not doing this again."

6. The amount you smoke, and the method you use, are both important variables though.
Case in point, my sophomore year of college (only 3 years ago, mind you) I was pretty much stoned all day, every day, and I developed a gnarly chronic (heh) cough. But now that I smoke substantially less than that, albeit still several days a week, I don't have any such problems.

Also, there was a guy who lived above me freshman year, who used to smoke something like 10 blunts a day - that was practically his only method of smoking. He used to talk about getting up in the morning and hacking black and gray gunk into the wastebasket. I have to think that if he'd used pipes/bongs more often, it wouldn't have been so bad.
