Just got a new toy!
I sold my old dirtbike for 3 grand and headed strait to the motorcycle dealer and got this beauty of a machine!

Its an 07 Yamaha YZ450F, it was a left over 07 model that for some odd reason it just didn't sell. Everyone was going for the new 08's I guess. It was an awsome deal though as they wanted $5500 for it. I havent been able to ride it yet:-(

4. Oh, technically its no a 350
Its a 346ci LS1. Not like the old GM 350, same pushrod configuration, yet its a whole new motor built from the bottom up back in the mid 90's. I dont think they even use the 350 anymore except as a crate engine.

5. Yeah, but
tree-fohty-six doesn't sound as good. The 5.7 will always be a tree-fitty.

8. I accept that
Most people automatically think "350" when they see the 5.7L.

9. Like the 5.0 Mustang
where the 302 was actually 4.9 liters. Tradition.

11. Why haven't you been able to ride it yet?
Do you have a suit and helmet and all? You could maybe pose beside it in your get up and post the pic. :D

13. Aha... safety first.
Smrt!

I saw a sticker the other day which made me smile. It said: Seen any motorcycles lately? Look again! :)

I know that's not technically a motorcycle but still... it reminded me. Not quite so random as I can be, at least. :P

15. Their was a shit load of motorcycles on the road today!
It got right up around 75 degrees today, even my pop's took his out for a little ride. I'm temted to buying a motorcycle but since I just bought this, now I cant. Plus I'm more scared riding on the road than offroad!

20. Awesomely fun bike!
And you got the limited edition white as well! :)

Makes me wish I was younger and still had my "weapon of choice" for the track:

1977 Maico AW440 (Adolf Weil Replica)

That thing was an absolute beast! Nothing out there could holeshot it. No clutch either (Maico's had shitty clutches), when the rubber band snapped, jam it in 2nd and off you went.

21. Big bore 2-strokers are monsters, thats for sure!
I tried racing a KX500, I found out the hard way, modern 450 thumpers are no match for those bikes!

22. The new 4-strokes are more of a "controlled explosion"
that the old open class 2 strokes. I always lusted in my youth for a Maico Magnum 490 (like I needed more power)

Had a Husky CR 360 for my playbike back then. Not as fierce as the Maico, but it had a "just right" powerband for wheelies as long as you had room to keep it up.

I miss working in the motorcycle shops...always fun test riding the latest and greatest toys.

At least the new 4 strokes can be kick started...the Maico was roll it down a hill and jam it in gear. The combination of left side kicker, 13.5:1 compression and too much motor made it painful. I once had it kick back on me and bruised the sole of my foot through a pair of Hi-Point MX boots. (Yes, the ones with the steel innersole!)

That same engine in your new toy is also a lotta fun in the 4 wheel version. :)

Enjoy your new toy! :toast:

24. Update! I didn't get to ride today.
We got rained down pretty bad here, and I'm not one for mudd riding anyways so I stayed inside. Plus my DSL modem crapped out on me today so I didn't get to post back earlier.
