Holy moley--that's like posting about a "square circle" or a "true falsehood."

1. But isn't that saying that the subject line is truly a falsehood, and therefore a true falsehood?
I just tied my brain in a knot. Ouch... hurts...

Baseball at times can be visually stimulating, but mostly it is intellectually stimulating which no doubt is why its appeal is lost on the likes of you! Further, casting asparagus on baseball for being oxymoronic or paradoxical is especially disingenuous, given your penchant for scientific truth.

Here's an idea: go to the Science forum and ask whether whether an electron behaves like a wave or a particle. If the answer you get is "yes," then I will be satisfied that you have been sufficiently hoisted by your own picard.

Or just go back to watching the tractor pull on ESPN 4.

7. Just what I was thinking!
I guess the thinking part is what escapes the OP. The beauty of baseball is not beggaring description, its popularity demonstrates this. Some people just want to stir up trouble.

8. Actually, the OP is a great thinker-- that he doesn't appreciate baseball is actually
a source of amusement for me. And yes, Orrex enjoys stirring up trouble, but then again, don't we all? :P :hi:

9. My response was purely in reference to baseball.
We really need a: tongue in cheek: emoticon.

It is the mind psych between the batter and the pitcher that gives baseball some of its excitement, which is what I meant about the thinking part.

21. For some, nothing is intellectually stimulating like watching a pitcher fondle his genitals
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 05:35 PM by Orrex
Yes, yes. A baseball game is like a hundred master-grade chess matches going on at once. I get it, I get it.

But why does it have to be so boring? At least in a heated chess match, you might see someone get shivved, or maybe a vial of acid thrown in somebody's face. What does baseball have? The occasional melee and a lot of spitting. And crotch-grabbing. And it's so delightfully full of roids and HGH, to boot!

And I'll have you know that ESPN4 costs extra through my cable provider, so I am denied the brainy apotheosis of the tractor pull.

23. All I can tell you is
The game is baseBALL you know...And I will have you know..that I don't consider melees, spitting and crotch grabbing ( )
at all boring....

Now I'll let you get back to your favorite intellectual pasttimes..watching the grass grow and paint dry.....

25. It's only "boring" if you don't know what is going on. And most of what is going on is
mental. If you don't understand the probabilities, then you are beholden to the "action" (multiple base hits, basestealing, close plays, etc) for excitement.

And it's not crotch grabbing; it's readjustment. As for shivving and acid tossing, I believe that you are describing womens figure skating....

And sorry to hear about you being denied tractor pulls-- I guess watching guys play poker will have to do!
