2. As far as I'm concerned they screwed up Dr. Who royally.
The cheesiness of it was what made it so much fun.

3. It's still cheesy and about as geeky as it comes!

God help me, my daughters love it!

Also, something the old show rarely had, the writing is sometimes really good.

My favorite recent episodes were:

"Blink" (2007): Seriously could have been a blockbuster Horror Movie outside the Dr. Who universe.

"The Girl in the Fireplace" (2006): A lifetime romance in one show. Very satisfying...

4. I really really liked 'Blink'
The Doctor Who episodes that I've liked so far didn't really have him in them. Love and Monsters is one.

This episode had the cutest monster I've seen.... a slab of fat waving goodbye to you!

6. "Blink" was awesome...
But "Love and Monsters" hit a new low for me.

"Human Nature" and "The Shakespeare Code" rocked the house. "Smith and Jones" was rather decent too...

7. In ways it is updated, but in others it is just about ruined.
The farting aliens, the belching alien, Cassandra, not only every companion wants to get it on with the Doctor but the creators brought back old companions and retconned them to move from a platonic friendship (a concept no fan of the new series will ever comprehend, I fear) to a sexual one...

At least Martha (series 3) was presented with an unrequited love situation that also presented itself as the Doctor remaining asexual. (and "Human Nature"'s reasoning for the Doctor falling in love worked very well indeed).

It has its cheesiness, but proper WHO also had some intellect thrown at it. That's what made series 3 stand out.

9. Don't want to lose any spoilers, but it looks like romance won't be a problem with this companion
But apparently there are ghosts lurking in the shadows for this season.

5. I saw some clips on youtube... (one spoiler included)
I'll give it a chance when I see the full thing, but I worry it's going to end up too campy, what with one of them waving at the camera before dropping out the open window. :eyes:

And I heard about Rose being back too. 11 episodes to go before we find out WHY she came back, and how she can grab items from people and then vanish back to her happy parallel world where we thought she would happily stay forevermore... (series 1 and 2 have not aged well; series 3 made me a fan with improved writing, series 4 might continue the trend and I know what "adipose" is and I liked that slant (kudos to writer RTD).

Time will tell. (I'll wait for sci-fi to air them)

10. Yes, (have seen it now) Episode 4x1 is pretty high on the cheese scale
with lots of fat included.

11. "I'm not mating with you, Sunshine!"
I love Donna. She's feisty like Tegan and inquisitive like Sarah Jane. /geek.
