The Mike Wallace Interview
I personally have a sincere hatred for Mike Wallace, but a friend of mine sent me a link to this page with old Mike Wallace interview episodes, and it just occurred to me that some here might find it interesting. I watched the Steve Allen one which was pretty good. My friend said that the one with Aldous Huxley is great - maybe I'll watch that next.

1. In his early days, Mike wasn't bad...
he was very aggressive, but decent.
I love those old interviews with people
who were truly interesting.
Now, who do they talk to?
Celebrities? people who are famous for being famous...

somehow he bought into his publicity,
and became the dragon..
or was it his bout with clinical depression?
I dunno.

but CBS... once a grand old news station,
and now? Sheesh.. Katie Couric, need I say more?

3. The problem isn't just who they interview now, it's how they interview them
Most of these talk show "interviews" are more-or-less scripted and set up to sell a product. I do like that these seem to be actually interviews, even if the interviewee was promoting something. Steve Allen did real interviews too. Sometimes David Letterman does, but I haven't been able to watch his show regularly for a few years - I know that most of his show is the scripted crap.
