Whee, tomorrow I have to argue a "controversial" topic for a grad class
And I get graded on how many people I convince to come to my side.

Super fun.

1. How 'bout this one - "Babies: A strain on the population, or good eatin'?"
And use A Modest Proposal as the basis of your topic. :P

2. I was thinking about "Everyone should give me 5 dollars"
I'm sure I could present some nice looking presentation slides to support such an idea.

3. Hmmm... might have to offer an incentive for that one.
Or do some kind of raffle where you split the proceeds with a random winner.

4. Odd topic.
I'd be interested in your argument.

I had a similar project as an undergrad for my keystone course in political theory. I like to see other people's approaches to a problem like this. I failed to convince virtually-anybody, but I got a sympathy B+ because my professor said that my argument was well-thought-out and my failure to convince was due to "biases and historical-ignorance".

5. That sounds like a horrible assignment.
You can tell people The Truth and not have a single person listen, or you can get them to believe lies if you're eloquent about it. Truth and logic can't be measured by how many people believe it...

7. Not a class on truth and lies, unfortunately
The assignment is specifically on how persuasive you are--I'd like to think the professor based it off the ice cream scene from the movie version of "Thank You for Smoking".
