These are 2 I took today at Sarah P. Duke Gardens. They only bloom a few short weeks each year and it's happening now. Smells so sweet too.

Fromt the inside:

5. Thanks Peggy.
I was so happy to get by the gardens at the right time this year. Last year I was a week too late and the blooms (and fragrance) were over and done with for the year. :(

6. Gorgeous!
One of my sisters has a wisteria tree just outside her kitchen window, and it's so beautiful when it's in bloom.

Thank you for the pics.

7. A lot people think they are a nuisance and chop them down
but if they tended to--shaped properly as a tree or grown on a trellis or gazebo they can be spectacular when in bloom.

I can see them growing wild out in the woods right now, twisting around trees and blooming up high. SO pretty.

They are definitely one of nature's finest gifts.

10. If you can ever time it right
and go to New Orleans when the wisteria is blooming you have to go eat brunch at the Court of Two Sisters in the court yard under the wisteria.

Beautiful picture and still waiting for my PITA (pain in the ass *) wisteria to bloom.

*PITA because I have the wrong kind and it is invasive. I have to keep at it with trimming and killing offshoots to keep it from killing the trees. There is a right kind that is not as invasive. Next time I will know better but I refuse to kill what I have because I love it when it blooms.

11. I ripped out some old wisteria I had
on a bower near the house. The plant was NUTS growing up over the house, into the chimney, etc., and for what? Two weeks of pretty flowers? Nah...

I'll put a bougainvillea in - it blooms for months and months.

13. Great pictures.
My wisteria is blooming and all over the side and backyard. I should try to reign it in but I can't bring myself to cut it back.

16. Those are great photos of a beautiful subject!
There is a wisteria vine in Sierra Madre, California, that was planted in 1894 and it now covers over an acre. It was named one of the seven horticultural wonders of the world, and the Guinness Book of World Records named it the largest blossoming plant in the world.
