4. Awww, the West Side line! (nostalgic sniff)
I used to take that to Zoo Concerts and to the Rock Creek Campus of PCC to take computer classes. I took the East Side line to Lloyd Center and to Kaiser's Rockwood office, among other places. I moved away a few months before the North-South line opened.

Here in Minneapolis, I take light rail to the airport. It's the cheapest and most reliable way. Unfortunately, we still have only one line. :-(

And the stupid part of it is that it was a compromise item that Timmy himself approved. :eyes:

6. When it opens here in Austin, I will use it to go downtown.
I believe it opens this fall, but I'm not sure if the station near my house will be operational then.

8. LA used to have the best mass transit system in the world.
But that was in 1961. Of course now it's practically non-existant.

12. Eh it's getting better, but slowly
Downtown has great public transportation among the 25 cent DASH buses & and the three rail lines plus all the other MTA bus and MTA Rapid lines. However everywhere else sucks pretty badly unless you live right on the line itself.

I believe LA public transit will become one of the best in the country in the next ten years as it seems more and more light rail lines will continue to open. Hopefully a light rail line will service the Valley more thoroughly because now the Valley (which has 1.5 million people) is a joke.

I am personally more worried about the freeways. It used to be that the 405 and 101 were deathtraps only at rush hour, but my brother and I got into a traffic jam yesterday night at 9:30 PM. What the fuck am I doing going 20 mph on a Sunday night .

I hope we get flying cars soon or some of the wacky ways of fixing out freeways should be implemented (make the 406 a double decker freeway).

14. Something's gotta change.

As a courier I know that the traffic here is a pain in the ass, and I make several trips between Orange County - Los Angeles and out to the valley a week. I'll believe it's getting better once the Metro Expo and Purple Lines complete, but that wont be for another couple of years at least.

9. Sod light rail, just "mind the gap"...

And whilst we're at it why don't we have a game of Mornington Crescent?

Mark.
