vacation Pics ***warning dial up users***
Woohoo, nothing more fun than looking at someone else's vacation pics---am i right or am i right?:D

the millennium clock in Prague, very cool watching it do it's thing.

the only pic of me and my niece tricked me in to it---damn her!

Prague on the way up the hill to the castle.

From the bridge, i forget the name of it but there were like 5 of them.

From another hill on the other side

but wait----there's more!

there was a great view no matter where you looked

Ok. on to Scotland, the castle/fortress from the hill, that was a steep hill in fact this trip was all hills.

A very annoyed and cold daughter, good thing she had that hat.

Finally got to the top---smoke break and an oxygen tank please

ok last one, this is Leeds Castle in England, as far as castles go this one would be pretty livable, not too huge and really lovely grounds---i already called one of the suites so you'll just have to bunk in with someone else.

I have lots more but i'll spare you.

longer! Those are amazing photos. Amazing. And the descriptions were just right for describing the mood. I have a weakness for pictures of water. I really want to go there now.

11. Love it!
and you look mahvelous!

I've wanted to go to Prague since the fall of the USSR. A friend of mine's brother moved there back when (a year in Prague was the thing). He met a woman, fell in love, got married and now has a child... and still lives there. I know I could be a pest and stay with them, but... his brother (my friend) just had a baby himself... well, his wife did. his first kid and he's in his 40s. cannot imagine going through that at 40+!

I read that Havel wrote a new play for the first time in???

what was it like to get around there? did you speak English? use trams, etc. to get around?

14. Many people there speak english so language isn't really a problem and as far as getting
around we walked everywhere, not once did we ever take a bus or cab or train. If you just stay in Prague it's totally walkable.

20. awesome - lucky you
I think Prague is probably the most beautiful city in the world. Last summer I got to house sit for a friend of mine who lives there (I would have never been able to afford it if I had to stay in a hotel and eat out). It was great, even by myself.

I've never been to Scotland though..... some day soon. How did you like Scotland compared to England?

21. thats a good question and a few of my friends asked me the same thing. I think
that as much as i love London, Scotland just has a different vibe, it's more laid back and in Edinburgh it's a much smaller city but walkable and the people are also very nice, i won't lie about the food though, most of it was pretty dreadful except for pub grub which was always good and dependable. Edinburgh also seems more rugged in terms of landscape but still beautiful but in a different way if that makes any sense at all.
I've been to London twice now and though i'd go again i think i prefer Scotland.

23. thanks for the info
Since last year, I've lived in England for the majority of the year doing research at a university, but when I have time off, I don't really get out and explore - I'm off to France or something. My brother is coming to visit in 2 weeks, and I'll take some days away from the university and we'll travel around. I've been to London several times, but I haven't been to Scotland. We were thinking of taking a pass on London anyway, and you've confirmed that idea - whew!

Was this just recently? Was it cold as hell in Scotland? My brother wanted to go there but thought it might be too cold, so maybe we'll go to Wales instead.... if you can't tell, I'm no good at planning.

24. it was like 2 weeks ago and the day we landed in London it was snowing---no shit.
Scotland was cold and rainy but we had 2 pretty decent weather days and even on the shit ones we were still out there walking around.

My Niece is also going to school in London, she's doing her graduate degree as LSE.

Anyhow i'd go to Edinburgh, it's a fun city and not too big.
