1. I hear that movies released so early in the year are usually really bad...

they have no hope of getting decent reviews. This is very telling, IMO.

is the "graveyard" of release dates of films, with the exception of romantic comedies that open for Valentine's Day. If a studio releases during that time you can take it to the bank it is a bomb.
