Hello fellow nightowls
For years it hasn't been an uncommon site to find me awake at an hour that some would say is late, others early. Here, where I am, it is now 2:51pm - I've been awake a little over 12 hours. I must say it's a cool feeling somehow to know that there's people all around the world who are so active. I'm finding this very difficult to articulate... I suppose I'm feeling a special kinship.

Anyway, many times I've come to appreciate these quiet hours.

Probably I'll soon be off to bed, the next time I find myself here, I won't be with my fellow nightowls.

What's the point of this thread? I don't know exactly.

To conclude, I love writing and it's enjoyable just to get whatever's on my mind, off my chest. The other thing I feel like noting is a frustration that my interests are ever-changing. One day I feel passionate about gardening, the next day astronomy. Lately it's been French literature and Siberian Huskies.

I reckon that's all for now.

2. Perhaps this will be the thread of random thoughts
In my life, I've very rarely drank alcohol. I don't hold it against you though, that's just how my life has panned out - a sip here, a sip there, such sips I couldn't embrace.

A weird thing - I'm obsessed about lots of Japanese stuff and at one point I wanted to try some sake just 'cos it's a Japanese drink.

4. It's been a problem for years
Unlike others, I don't have so many obligations as other people - no work, no school. Most of my teenage life was spent at home as I suffered from a social anxiety disorder. Now I have an illness in which nothing is expected of me - my blood vessels are narrow so distribution of blood, of oxygen, is severely restricted, limiting my mobility. No work, see.

So yeah, for years you could of found me awake at any time, asleep at any time.

8. Everyone here has been so nice
About the above picture. I did mention gardening. I believe it was last month when the idea of watching something grow before my eyes became an engaging thought. I'm not growing any roses, although it was a possibility going through my head. Honestly, the seeds I planted have only just sprouted, so there's no petals, no stems - still, that there's been any progress at all has made the activity worthwhile. I walk outside to observe that growth is evident... awesome.

Another random thought - lately I've been investing time in some prime examples of classic literature, and I'm truly enjoying the beautiful language but for a change of pace, I'd like to re-read a book which is based on those Resident Evil games - you know, Capcom survival horror where you shoot zombies? The material in the respective novels are comparatively light to other writings I've sampled, but that's the point.

Oh and I noticed a thread about vampires. Oh and another about the supernatural in general. Lately vampires have taken my fancy for SOME REASON - the feelings they inspire in me, once more I'm finding this hard to articulate... wait, there's a cool picture I'd like to share. It's a good example of what I'm trying to express to you.

9. Hawks
As a teen I invested myself in a science fiction series in which a boy was involved. This boy was given alien technology which allowed him to acquire the DNA pattern of any animal he'd touch. One such animal was the red-tailed hawk. The author of this series went into considerable research to learn much about the species she gave detail to throughout the books. Exceptional sight and hearing, check. Ruthless instincts, check. As for the boy who was trapped inside the animal's head - he himself felt envy of the owls around him as their wings have been specially designed through evolution to operate soundlessly.

Random, random, random

10. My dear bixente...
It's nice to see you!

So, it's afternoon for you...

Here, it's 10:36 PM...

I've just gotten home from a weekly open mic at a local coffee house, where we participate in poetry reading.

I've been reading my own stuff, and it's a blast!

Good to see you...

:hi:

11. Poetry reading
I once involved myself in just such an activity. We have a microphone which we occasionally connect to this computer. At another forum, I'm familiar with a French woman from Lyon. She's rather self-conscious of her English and wishes to improve it. She thought it would help if I would post poems in their written form, and then recite it myself into the mic, upon which I would upload the recording. She listens. I'm not sure if it was ultimately so productive, but her English is perfectly acceptable anyway, and we all enjoyed it.

I didn't compose any of them, though. I found an impressive range from talented Japanese poets.

It's truly impressive that you compose them yourself.

Oh, and 10:36pm... of course, of course many time zones would span the United States.

14. I'm glad and yet not
I hope the sleep deprivation isn't seriously impeding your health. Still, as I said, as someone who holds a certain affinity for these quiet hours, so I can form a certain bond with those who are also familiar with such and such hour.

There's not much on television though - is the United States similar to Australia in that infomercials and religious programs aren't exactly in short supply at 2am, 3am, 4am, so on? As such, my primary activities are surfing the 'net, reading and listening to the radio. There's this nifty program called "All night sports," I think, although not 100% - it's quite bland and uninspiring in stark contrast to the listening material. Also I enjoy quiet night-time strolls, although not so frequently as in the past.

15. Meh, it's OK
I blew a disc in my back about 5 weeks ago and can't lay down for more than about 2 hours at a stretch. I've gotten accustomed to it.

I've been Tivo'ing a bunch of old movies of TMC - they're a good way to pass the late hours. And I'm reading World War Z about the Great Zombie War, so that's fun, too :D

I've always loved the night time. My mind seems to become more open and yet, at the same time, more focused.
