3. They're both fast on their feet, but Colbert is faster
His interviews are killer. It's really hard to say which one if funnier, because they both have their team of writers.

4. Well there was the writer's strike
That gave you a better idea what each man can do on their own.

6. Colbert is quicker and more ingenuous. Stewart basically uses people being full of sh*t via video
Colbert's show though short (on TiVo you can watch the whole thing in about 15 minutes) is chocked full of really smart comedy. Plus we get to go along on a ride of wealth and fall-into-his-lap notoriety ("I have a Hungarian passport!" -he was shocked to realize it). Stewart uses people contradicting themselves or speaking directly opposite of fact against them. From time to time a reporter will hit on a bit of brilliance (and it is Jon's show) but not necessarily Jon himself.

In terms of books I would give the nod to Stewart for "America: the book" very very clever "The Renaissance was a time of reason and logic typified by statements such as, 'What's say we stop putting the dead bodies in the drinking water'"

8. When Colbert went to England and demonstrated how they eat Bananas
and they could both hardly stop from cracking up - favorite scene.

I also really liked their Even Stevens rip-off with Steve Carrell.

9. Tough question
I think they are both funny and quite intelligent, and I enjoy both their shows. However, if I have to pick one, my loyalties lie with Jon Stewart. :) (I'm not going to say how much of that has to do with the fact that I currently attend his alma mater, and really I think he almost gets more press here than Thomas Jefferson!) ;) Both men/shows are pretty great, though. :hi:

10. I went with Stewart.
His comedy is absolutely razor-sharp, and his guests and interviews are great because he can just be himself instead of putting on a persona as Colbert does. Colbert is funny, but I think the persona sometimes gets in the way.

Him playing Mr. Noblet on Strangers with Candy was a riot.

17. Colbert.
Stewart is really funny too, but Colbert is really quick on his feet and has better timing and delivery. (and like Phil Hartman, he can get away with playing really repulsive characters by letting just enough of his real personality through)

I never would have thought that Colbert's shtick could be sustained long enough to hold up a whole show, but he's done it.

Jon does better interviews though, except in the rare cases of guests that both get Colbert's sense of humor, and are quick-witted enough to play back at him.

19. I laugh with Stewart, laugh at Colbert.
I think Colbert is a stronger comedian and can improvise far more smoothly than Stewart. He is damned funny, even if he's sold his soul to the vegan chip lobby. Nevertheless, I find Stewart more geniune, so his humor is more touching.

21. Stewart. by far....no comparison
Ive never found Colbert funny. I dont think acting a part is all that funny after the first few times. Colberts schtick is very very stale to me.

22. Colbert I think has better material and delivery
Though his character sometimes seems to get in the way of the show itself, especially during the interviews. It drives me up the wall when they book someone with something actually interesting to say and he can't just shut the fuck up and let the person finish their sentence. I get the whole act and everything but sometimes it's just insanely annoying. In terms of interviews I think Stewart does a much better job.

26. Colbert....Stewart's starting to
fall flat for me. He's just not as hilarious as he used to be. Too many weird noises and voices and not enough funny. The Writer's strike showed how much better a comedian Colbert is.

28. I think Stewart is starting to go into Bush withdrawl
He has been living on comedic easy street with georgie boy. Now that bushie is becoming less relevant, it's harder to put a funny spin on the news.
