Tomorrow, we'll have been married 26 years. Don't ask me anything!
I don't get the day off, so I won't be around to answer much. I have
to be on the 6:20 AM plane to München, and don't get back until 7
tomorrow night, and then my wife and I have a dinner reservation at
a cheaply decorated (but with fabulous food) fish place we know in
downtown Düsseldorf on the Grafenberger Allee.

26 years ago:

No, that's not us on the left. That is my brother and his wife. We had a
double wedding. My wife is from Germany (and looks it, while I am looking
rather bug-eyed at realizing that I was indeed married). My brother's wife
is from Japan (and looks it DUH!! LOL). At least he kept a straight face for
the photo, but then he has kept a straight face ever since. I never had one
to begin with.

12. Thanks, all, and yes, I still have the beard
My brother had originally invited me to be best man at his wedding.
When I said I would see if my (then-)girlfriend could make it over
to Washington for the event, he said that as long as we were both
there, we could join in the fun. We figured hey, apart from a few
plane tickets, no arrangements! So we said sure, we're in. The paper-
work was a headache, but probably nothing like the pain of organizing
a wedding. The guest list was like the U.N. and we had to do a LOT of
translating (my Japanese sucks, while my brother speaks passable German).

Congrats to all who have been married longer than we have, to those who
have been married almost as long as we have, and to all those who have
the intention of being married as long as we have, even if you don't get
there. Not everyone finds "the right one" the first time around, and some
never do. We lucked out, and we know it.

OK, I have to run to the airport. Time and Air Berlin wait for no man.
