What's up with that? Some people do it habitually, but those who pop in for one post only or to "convert us heathen liberals" tend to go for that plain text thing like a moth to a bug-zapper.

Do they think that somehow using plain text will keep them or their computer from getting "liberal cooties" or something?

3. It looks like this.
Strong tendency towards Imbecility
Moderate tendency towards Boorish
Strong tendency towards Tyranny
Moderate tendency towards Laziness

The Moran

Idiotic, illogical, annoying and driven by the inner world of
ideas and possibilities of inflicting pain, the IBTL often
appears to others as a loud egotistical (and extremely
stubborn) narcissist, convinced that reality can be altered,
the future and past reshaped in his own twisted image.
Wherever there is a need for corruption, anger, human rights
abuses, cronyism and thoughlessness, IBTL will be working (as
little as possible if it involves real work) to cause chaos.
This type's focused attention to himself is frankly obsessive,
depending on the observer's viewpoint (other IBTL's see
nothing wrong in this personality type while all other types
find him abhorrent). Boorish and rarely shy, IBTLs place their
trust in their own self-belief of superiority and "gut
instincts" to guide their thoughts and decisions. More
feeling types may find them chilly, and more practical types
accuse them of being revolting, but IBTLs take their cues
mostly from themselves or those they recognize as like-typed.
Often attracted to torture, depravity, and incivility, IBTLs
succeed in a wide variety of fields, mostly by stepping over
or destroying anyone who gets in the way of their selfish and
self-centered goals. IBTLs are large percentage of the
population, consisting of roughly between 25 to 30 percent of
the general public.

Famous IBTLs include:

George W. Bush
Dan Quayle
Joe Lieberman
Tom Delay
Paris Hilton
Pat Robertson
Rush Limbaugh
Sean Hannity
Michael Savage
Ann Coulter

10. They also
end their own sentence lines early, probably
because on their 640x480 craptastic monitors
the text entry box is really small. So to
compensate, they write like this, otherwise
their words might drop off into liberal
mystery land.

(even though 4 to 5 words per line
is easier to read)

I confess, I'm a freeper.

I know * and pResident Cheney are the best wonders of the
world since sliced bread.

For the record:
:sarcasm:

Edit: can't figure out how to get the sarcasm smiley with the
rest of it in freeper text!

20. Emoticons do not work because

Freepers and their extremist ilk do not have emotions.

They also do not feel pain.

Or have souls.

21. It's useful for a few things....
if you want to type GD:P without a tongue-sticking-out smiley.

If you want to align columns of numbers:

     3,492
       112
    23,984
         7

See?

They're always from Roswell, NM or San Diego, CA.
Their gender is undeclared (and seemingly not because of any identity issues) and there is no sig line or avatar.

I think I had noticed this before, but hadn't made the
connection of just how common it is.

Plain text does have a certain "je ne sais quoi,"
though... haha
