I think he was diabetic and there was a possibility of a blood disorder. I'm not sure if that was actually the case, though, and there was a request for donations to a necrotizing fascitis foundation in lieu of flowers.

Wow, that does take me back, too.

I remember him posting that he was sick, flu or respiratory virus. I believe the infection was in his lungs but am not sure on that.

The article said in lieu of flowers to send donations to the Necrotizing Fasciitis Foundation.

5. He is a hero of mine

I have told many people about him. I remember his research and his passion. He found his calling here on DU.

LBN was always the first place I went to on DU, because of Keph.

The morning I read that post from his mother, I started crying.

There are others who have stepped up and kept LBN a great place for breaking news, but (no offense to ANYONE), Keph was in a class by himself.
