The water
The water falls from the bathroom faucet
As mom sets your tiny body into the sink for a bath
Washing your impossibly soft and already clean skin
It is so warm, like you are
You are removed, cradled like a rare delicate gem
Dried and powdered completely and
Brought to your pristine bed
Placed naked on the sheets, the silky comfort
Giggly giggly goo
The white sheets raise and whoosh
And fall on your vulnerable body
As fifty years later
Your lover is in the shower
Water on the tiles like rain
You are naked again, under the sheets
Waiting for her
The endless wait
Until she arrives, naked and fragrant
Climbing next to you under the sheets
Smiles and hands
Your toes interlace, laughing wonder
Fingertips on fingertips
Blushing joy
You are a baby again

Please don't let this thread fall.

but she's just quite simply a wonderful human being... i try to teach my children empathy- not that hard, actually, to teach a child to have compassion for every living thing. too bad so many parents spend alot of time UNDOING a child's natural empathetic soul.

i'm so proud of her. i'm proud of all my children. she's a keeper. what am i gonna do when she leaves? i've got one more year... i'll be devastated... i cried for weeks when her brother left for college. this won't be any easier... maybe harder because she's my best friend!

btw- many years ago i fancied myself a poet- creative writing scholarship for my poetry submissions- now i don't write, but i have read more poetry than your average bear... and YOU, my friend, are a talent! have you been published?

27. Dear avasmom
You are a good soul for teaching your children empathy. To me, empathy is THE characteristic we should strive for as human beings. I view empathy and sympathy as being two different things. To me, empathy is the ability to see, to feel, and to truly understand what others may be going through. It is the ability to cry for someone...Shit...I'm getting a little emo here...having a bad day.

I can't wait to see what Ava will be doing 10 years from now. But no matter what her place in life turns out to be, you can be proud, and she can be proud, that she has IT. I'm not expressing myself very well today, but I think you know what I am saying.

As far as my writing...I never fancied myself a writer of any sort. You will find that some don't like me in here, and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I just SPILL whatever is in my heart and mind through my keyboard. I usually type garbage, but every once in awhile, I hit upon something profound...the law of averages I guess.

I'm having a very dark day, and your words have cheered me. Thank you so much.

29. you dark day
i hope your day improves, and if it doesn't (dark days have a way of staying that way, particularly for the poet types), just keep in mind that tomorrow is another day and make it better! i really will keep you in my thoughts & prayers...

That's pretty nice. I may be poetically illiterate, but I like the way it sounds.

You should be very proud.
I can't write poetry anymore. I can only seem to turn a phrase after something traumatic happens or I am alone and yearning for love. It's a curse.

I can only write something that resembles poetry when I am either not feeling well, or depressed.
