I cooked a Kuala Lumpur/Bangkok hawker-stand dinner tonight!
I grilled chicken, in the KL style, with tamarind/lime/cilantro .. plus Vietnamese fish sauce (nouc mam), garlic, ginger, basil, etc.! I made a bodacious Thai green papaya salad: shredded papaya and carrots, ripe tomatoes, green beans slivers, dried shrimp, and a sauce of tamarind pulp, lime juice, cilantro, fish sauce, palm sugar syrup, pulverized garlic, and MoFo dried Thai chili peppers.

All I lack is some durian custard for desert. Ah .. durian!

1. Durian is the fruit that smells like poo or old vomit or something like that.

The meal sounds wonderful, though. What are MoFo dried chili peppers?

I had some durian ice cream at a Thai restaurant once. It was... different.

2. Vomit.
You can smell a durian stand a block away. BUT .. it tastes good. I first had it in jungle survival school in the Philippines on my way to Viet Nam. They told us: NEVER EAT DURIAN RAW! I later had durian ice cream in Singapore .. quite nice.

5. Maybe for our next lunch we should hit one of those Vietnamese restaurants.
A bowl of pho would be good.

6. Indonesian food

I tried it recently. In Melbourne there's a nice place called Es Teler 77. From there I tried Mee Goreng (not sure on the spelling). Also there's different forms of this food. The only thing I know for sure was that I enjoyed it immensely.
