Kitteh is turning 1 this week! :bounce:

He's on Wellness Kitten Health, dry and wet. I assume that it's time to start the transition? We will be switching to Wellness Indoor Health, when we do.

What say y'all?

We will be calling our Vet, of course, just thought I'd get some feedback. :hi:

1. 1 year is a good call.
Wellness is an excellent brand, too. Good sticking with them.

2. Before we got him, I researched quite bit, as it was right after the recalls...

Our Vet is very supportive and happy that we're feeding him that. He loves it. :)

I figured this was the time, we'll do the gradual transition, of course. He's so big and healthy and his fur is so shiny. :D

:hi:

3. Your vet likes Wellness?
Wow, you've got a keeper there. Many of them have been "bought" by Science Diet, and they push it really hard.

Keep in mind, cats don't need *quite* the same uber-slow transition as dogs do. They're natural carnivores and their system adapts pretty quickly.

4. I adore our Vet...She's magnificent
And yes, when we first came in for the initial checkup, worming, shots, etc, we told her we were feeding him Wellness, and she was overjoyed. Everyone at the Vet's office is great. They adore him. It's a great match. :)

Thanks for the info. Iirc, we switched him pretty fast after we got him from the crappy commercial food he was eating to Wellness, and he had no ill effects. :)

6. Wellness is great. My critters eat both the canned and the dry versions.
They love it. No corn or other non-cat-friendly stuff.

5. Titty Boy switched himself to adult food at his first feeding
Titty Boy (long, long story about how he got named THAT) was born in our house, nursed for three weeks and grew in a fine set of kitten teeth. We decided it was time to introduce him to soft food.

I went to the pet store and bought the very highest quality canned kitten food they had. Chock full of nutrients and vitamins, it was guaranteed to please even the fussiest palate. I put the food on a stoneware plate and served it to him with a flourish.

The little fucker took one sniff, buried it like it was cat shit--HOW in hell can a cat that has never eaten soft food and never been in a litter box know how to do this?--walked straight over to his mother's plate and helped himself.

Then again...this is the same kitten who managed to get out of a cat bed with 6-inch-high walls when he was three days old and his eyes were closed. He apparently decided he didn't like it in there.

7. Mine never took to it, they kept snitching food from the big cat.
So they all just get regular adult cat food from Natural Balance and they're all just fine.
