Going to a reunion in July

Will be taking the train and have about an 8 hour layover in DC. Does anybody know what transport (and the cost) of going from union station to the smithsonian for an old person with disabilities?

1. Easy....take Metro (subway)

I think it will be about 5 bucks per person round trip. Depends on what time of day you go. But its pretty easy getting from Union Station to the Smithsonian.
