Has anyone here tried Second Life?
It's um interesting. Very Graphic/Memory intensive but was playing around with a bit this past weekend. Don't think I want to take up permament residency but it's a strange world to explore.

Perhaps we can start the Democratic Underground there. Ironically, for an online game, I read where 7 countries have setup an embassy there including Sweden. Also there have been several famous people using SL for releasing new music - which is something I think I would be interested in.

It's definately an interesting sociology experiment going on in there.

2. It's interesting as a sociology experiment... however on a personal level I found it to be rather
boring.

9. I get the impression that I could have found it interesting had I been willing to pay a monthly fee
that would allow me to make things and own land and all that crap... but I wasn't willing to do that.

13. It's free
Only thing you have to pay for is if you want some of that stuff but you can earn money in the game. And there are resale shops where you can get free clothes and body shapes although warning - some of the have other stuff that is um, a bit, um interesting.

5. I've had an account over there for years. It's interesting if you have a particular interest..

...I love art, and there are some very good artist over there. When I'm there, I spend most of my time checking out the various galleries. Also, being involved in a group will make your stay more enjoyable. If you wonder around aimlessly, it can get boring, quick. I've suggested here that DU should get a group started there, but to no avail.

8. Aimlessly wandered around
When I found a place where I could shoot Heroin I realized this place was nuts and growing tired real quickly. But the Live Music aspect of it - kinda like MySPace but with Avatars, yeah I could check that out.

And no, I did not inhale!

7. Will my character be able to fly?
Like Dwight's from the Office? Can my Second Life character have a Third Life?

10. Yeah, anybody can fly
Trouble is, there's usually nowhere to go. 90% of it looks like a 14 year old boy's darkest imagination. There's some cool stuff if you have the patience to find it and don't mind being taunted occasionally by purple aliens sporting giant genitalia and the like.

17. It's an online world...
it's interesting, but the learning curve to function is steep. That's a large part of why I left, I got sick of having to look up key-commands to do basic stuff.

20. Very briefly.
On another message board I'm on (much smaller), the admins are into it and I tried it, but got bored quickly. You have to have a lot of time on your hands I think to get into Second Life.
