19. Garden hose
My answer for all noisy critters. Long-range, non-lethal, and non-damaging as long as you don't hit the little fella with a hard blast dead on. I've driven away many a cats with that thing, and they never back. That night at least. If you can't see it then spray the hose in a wide pattern where the noise is coming from. It's likely to fly away very quickly.

Haha, made ya look.

Have you tried putting a pillow case on top of something bird cage shaped and putting it over the bird until morning?

21. Yip, bird lovers are SHOCKED when I complain
Birds are beautiful to look at (most of 'em), and birdbaths are charming, BUT:

* What you say. Mockingbirds can tweet away for HOURS into the WEE hours, non-stop.

* Mockingbirds go into attack mode in their nesting season. I've had to RUN out of MY house, and my dogs, too, from the dive attacks and pecks.

* I don't mind if the birds are drinking from my dogs' water bowl, but they POOP in it, BATHE in it, drop feathers and dirt in it. I've had to change the water up to FIVE times per day sometimes. So FERGIT the charm of birdbaths!1

* And then there's the MORE pooping. Grackles, another protected species, line up on the electrical lines along the curb, so if your car is parked there for a minute-----POOP's away!1

* And you might want bushes and trees for shade, and how about a garden bell at the gate? Well, POOP all over the entry walk, and perching on the bell with corresponding POOP all over it, and POOP all over the mailbox.

So, birdlovers?! Defend!1

22. I'm not shocked, but I'm also not sympathetic either

You live in an environment. You share the environment with other species. The price of having a nice environment with birds and other critters is that they will poop on things and sing and defend their nests.

If you like having bushes and trees in your yard, don't be shocked that you're going to have birds as well. I have one rose bush and nothing else in the yard of my rented house, and I get very very few birds. If having to share space with nature is that much of a horrible thing for you, perhaps you should look into a high-rise apartment. I'd love to have your problems.

Or you could just make your yard less bird friendly. Don't leave the water dish out. Identify where the birds nest in your yard and in the fall, get rid of the spaces they utilize. You might have to get rid of your shrubs and trees if a little bird crap and bird song in the spring is too much for you. Don't know what you can do about the power line, guess you can go through a car wash. Don't bother with the fake plastic owls, they don't work.

25. Plus, owls (plastic images) are BAD LUCK!1 I gave one away!1
I can see how my list of grievances---not to mention my inviting birdlovers to DEFEND---might have irritated you.

I don't mind sharing with critters. I love critters *and* the environment. In fact, I subscribe to the anti-anthromorphism that people have dominance and rights over the planet.

Actually, sharing space with people in a high rise apartment would be WAY worse for me, as can be seen from the response to my threads at DU!1 HaHAH!1

But just as I grant birds and others their territoriality, you might say I am expressing MY own animal territoriality, as in: No, why should the (outside) dogs have their water restricted from them? No, I will not get rid of my bushes and trees. No, a LITTLE bird crap and song are not too much for me, just those periods when they SHOWER crap all over and TWEET themselves silly in OUR shared territory!1

Actually, there is a State sponsored bird control device for the perching-on-the-wires and raining shit: Two boards hinged together for SLAPPING together like gunshot noise, to shoo them away. But, if you choose to use this, WEAR EARPLUGS, because you will be harming yourself, too!1

So the bottomline (for me) is, I'm blessed to share my time in this planet with everything in it, so the birds need to get used to having a curmudgeon around, TOO!1

Maybe they know you're a curmudgeon and just enjoy screwing with you. They'll probably start stealing stuff from you next.
