If I were not laughing right now... I can haz Lounge Vibes plz?
Have I ever told anyone that I use laughter as a coping mechanism?

My daughter fractured her ankle in a weird way today at recess. Apparently while she and another girl were playing, the other girl accidentally kicked her in the ankle. She walked around on it all day, went to softball practice (started to really limp there). I finally looked at it and it was larger than actual size...

We just got back from the Urgent Care center. She is splinted temporarily, until we can see the orthopod. We have referral in hand for the surgeon. So she is out of school until we can actually be seen, since she does not have crutches and cannot bear any weight on her ankle. She is sleeping in bed with me tonight, so I can be able to get her anything she needs, and carry her to the bathroom. Did I mention she weighs almost 50 pounds?

4. It is killing me. I am on the laptop and she is trying to sleep in bed with me.
She is currently sleep whimpering.

She is so uncomfortable, and there is not a damn thing I can do about it.

6. The injury happened on the playground during recess
It probably did not help that she went to softball practice.

10. Nope...
Now I just need to see about getting a refund from this session of swimming lessons.

I think I am going to load the little red wagon into the back of my van, I have a feeling I will be needing to wheel her into the surgeon's office.

Sorry I wasn't around earlier...

Just got home from the open mic at the poetry reading...

They loved "The Sensual Orange"...

Yes, I think the little red wagon is an excellent idea!

12. Yeah, since I got rid of the stroller years ago, the wagon will have to do
I cannot possibly carry her for distances, even with the disability parking placard.

17. Wow. I thought I had the record on weird injuries....
I broke my pinky in grade school when someone threw the kickball to me hard and high and I had to reach up to get it and boom..both pinkies bent backward.
Hope she gets fixed up soon....

21. It is so hard to see our kids in pain! We wish we could magically take it away,
even unto ourselves! I'm sending vibes to you for strength and patience Kitch, and to your daughter for courage and character. The good thing is that kids heal fast. I hope this is the case for your family as well! :hi:

22. Oh no, Kitchy!
That's awful!
:(

I sure hope she gets better soon, and that you both
get some rest.

I'm surprised the Urgent Care Center didn't give her the crutches,
since she can't put any weight on that foot.

Good vibes and hugs to all of you.

23. Apparently they wanted to defer to the Orthopedist.
And she only weighs 50 pounds. :sarcasm: (Pay no attention to the fact that the child's mom is on a permanent 30 pound lifting restriction...)

The good news is that we are being referred to a specialist who practices at Hoag.

24. Hoag is a great hospital, Kitchy.
I'm so happy to hear she'll be seen by one of their doctors.

Karl just got into 'Greater Newport Physicians' and I'm very happy.

I don't qualify yet- long story.
:(

Please be careful, Kitchy-
If I bend or stretch the wrong way I can
screw up my back for weeks!

25. I am being careful
When we do get an appointment at the specialist's, I am getting out the little red wagon and putting her in it so I don't have to carry her a long distance.

26. You are lucky. My nephew broke 3 bones in his lower leg. Had surgery.
Is in great pain. Summer sports are out for him. One rugby move and he will be an invalid for 6 months. He's a happy guy though and doesn't complain much.

We have the appointment tomorrow.
