Where does one buy an inversion table?
I want one to stretch my rotten back. I found a store called "Relax the back". The BF went there yesterday, and the only ones they had in the store were a really crappy "portable" one, and a really expensive fancy one on the show floor. The website shows all sorts of models. I guess they expect you to order one off their website - but I'd sort of like to see it and learn a bit about it before buying one. I need to know that I can get in and out of it by myself so I don't get stuck there and the cats eat me.

1. Well, you could call this company and ask if there's a store nearby.

2. I don't think you're going to have much luck

*finding* a good one in a storefront, unfortunately. Weider makes a really nice one (sorry, no model number) that I used once at a gym a short time ago. Thing is, it's gym equipment, so you need space for it. It doesn't fold/pancake to go under a bed or anything.

I'll see if I can find a link on the Weider site.

On edit: This is the one:

No sure if you have any Healthy Back stores in your area.

Brookstone has some on their site, so maybe they'll have it in their stores.

edit: http://www.healthyback.com/categories/inversion-tables/70

Seems Healthy Back's website offers free shipping on their inversion tables atm.

7. if you haven't already, try one out before you buy...
the hanging upside-down thing really messed me up. the blood rushes to my head, my nose stuffs up, my ears start ringing... i'm not claustrophobic but i so totally want to get upright i imagine this is what that must feel like.

this is just my reaction, but make sure you are happy with the experience before you spend money.

8. yeah
that's part of the reason why I want to try one in a store, and not just order one off the net.

9. Gaiam, but you'll have to order it.
I've never had any problem getting in and out of mine.

Oh, keep your chin tucked when you hang -- keeps the blood from rushing to your head.

11. Costco
Support a progressive retailer. Higher wages, healthcare, and a CEO/founder who drives other greedy scumbags nuts with his almost socialist attitude.

13. Honestly?
We got one at Sears. We spent a little more for the sturdy model. It's a giant piece of furniture too. But it does what it says and never lets you feel like you're swaying or flimsy, which felt really important given that whole upside-down thing. And at Sears, they usually have them out and you should be able to try it first.

It's an odd sensation at first but if you work up to it, it's cool. And remember, you don't have to go fully upside down at first. You can just move into a nice little reverse Trendelenberg (head slightly lower than the feet) and go from there.

15. Here ya go:
And on interest-free payments, too. I used to use one (my mom had one), and I miss it terribly. SO good for the back.
