3 commercials I hate - and one I love
Hate:

1) Vehix.com: "You can LITERALLY take a test drive!"

No, you cannot LITERALLY take a test drive on a web site. My head figuratively explodes whenever I hear it.

2) Carl's Jr.: It's gross! Stop it! The one where the girlfriend tells the guy he's got something on his face? And it looks like something two girls and a cup did on his face? EWWW!!!

3) I forget the third one right now, but it pisses me off.

Love:

The Comcast commercial where the caveman is about to bludgeon some saber-toothed gopher or some such animal and it looks up at him and says "I LOOOOOOOOVE YOU!" and the announcer says "Some things are hard to beat." Thumbs up for that one!

2. I loathe the Progressive Ins one with the checkout girl
"We have a savings of $350 dollars..." ACK!

One I love is the one with the puppy singing "Ain't No Bugs On Me"

7. I hate Comcast the company, but their "play on words" commericals are great
My favorite: Mideval minsterals are playing music when someone tries to steal one of their lutes.

"Hold on to your loot."

Slays me!

10. I despise those 800-lb gorilla commercials
The ones where the 800-lb gorilla in the room is your retirement plan, which you are ignoring. Hello! The big important or significant thing you ignore is the "elephant in the living room" not the 800-lb gorilla. The 800-lb gorilla is the person or institution that gets whatever it wants, regardless of what you may do, like Microsoft or Dick Cheney. I can't believe they've built a whole ad campaign around a corruption of one of our mostly fondly used cliches.

The commercials I like are the ones for Rozerem, a sleeping pill, in which the insomniac is hanging out with the inhabitants of his dreams -- a deep-sea diver, a chess-playing beaver and Abraham Lincoln. It was especially poignant when it was shown after a 60-Minutes piece about troops in Iraq. Lincoln says "We just wantcha back" and the commercial ends with the tagline "Your dreams miss you." Those words had a whole different meaning after watching the Iraq story.

12. I've taken a liking to the Bloom grocery store commercials.
I've never even seen one of the stores, but I love the ads, which feature morose people who produce a one-liner about how soul-destroyingly bad their lives are (e.g., "I used to babysit my boss." "My son called me at work today. I didn't know I had a son.") and then brighten up at the news of some bargain at Bloom.
