Fire And Rain

James Taylor

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things
to come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now
Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now

She is bored out of her mind though.

We see the doctor tomorrow, then we will know what we are doing.

Re the Big Red Machine: Around 1970 or so, after that sobriquet had been bestowed, Sports Illustrated did a story on the Dodgers with the headline, "The Little Blue Bicycle."

7. The Tigers...here is a song that MrG sang to Baby G all the time by James Taylor...
Sweet Baby JamesJames Taylor
There is a young cowboy he lives on the range
His horse and his cattle are his only companions
He works in the saddle and he sleeps in the canyons
Waiting for Summer, his pastures to change
And as the moon rises he sits by his fire
Thinking about women and glasses of beer
And closing his eyes as the doggies retire
He sings out a song which is soft but it's clear
As if maybe someone could hear
Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rock-a-bye sweet baby James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Won't you let me go down in my dreams
And rock-a-bye sweet baby James
Now the first of December was covered with snow
And so was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston
Lord, the Berkshires seemed dreamlike on account of that frosting
With ten miles behind me and ten thousand more to go
There's a song that they sing when they take to the highway
A song that they sing when they take to the sea
A song that they sing of their home in the sky
Maybe you can believe it if it helps you to sleep
But singing works just fine for me
Goodnight you moonlight ladies
Rock-a-bye sweet baby James
Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose
Won't you let me go down in my dreams
And rock-a-bye sweet baby James
Sweet Baby James

***I can't bear to listen to it anymore.

46. I WILL have them both.
I downloaded both in mp3 format - but #1, I like supporting artists, and #2, I am a digital music elitist, so I despise mp3s. I rip all my tunes to FLAC. I'll be replacing the mp3s with the FLAC versions when I get around to buying the albums.

I'd LOVE to see them live too. They look like they put out an awesome show! I was interested to discover that they've opened for Cake before.

15. Antony and the Johnsons
and Paul Simon. I'm on random but I keep going back to them.

And William Shatner :loveya: :
It Hasn't Happened Yet
I was crossing the snowfields in front of the Capitol Building
It was Christmas and I was alone
Strange city
Strangers for friends
And I was broke
As the carillon sang its song, I dreamt of success
I would be the best
I would make my folks proud
I would be happy
It hasn't happened yet
It hasn't happened yet
It hasn't happened

Yes, there are nods in my direction
Clap of hands
A knowing smile
But still
I'm scared again
Foot slipped
Pebbles fall and so did I, almost
(I'm high) on Yosemite, the big grey wall (fear of falling)
Where to put my foot next (fear of failure)
I'm afraid I'm gonna fall
(be at one with the mountain)
I whispered in the air
(fear of falling, fear of failure, fear of losing my hair, falling)
When is the mountain scaled?
When do I feel I haven't failed?
I've got to get it together man
It hasn't happened yet
It hasn't happened yet
It hasn't happened

People come up and say hello
Okay, I can get to the front of the line
But you have to ignore the looks and yet
I'm waiting for that feeling of contentment
That ease at night when you put your head down and the rhythms slow to sleep
My head sways and eyes start awake
I am there not halfway between sleep and death but looking into eyes wide open
Trying to remember
What I might have done
Should have done
At my age I need serenity
I need peace
It hasn't happened yet
It hasn't happened yet
It hasn't happened yet
It hasn't happened

23. "Everything is Different Now"
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 09:10 PM by lizziegrace
Don Henley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYCQ0clxGjE

I hate to tell you this, but I'm very, very happy
And I know thats not what you'd expect from me at all
I'm not the kind to smile and bow out gracefully
I always wanted to take it to the wall

But I found somebody with a heart as big as Texas
I found an angel with the golden wings
She saw me down here in the dark somehow
And everything is different now

Yeah, I miss the old crowd sometimes
And the wild, wild nights of running
You know, a starving soul cant live like that for long
You go around in circles that just keep getting smaller
You wake up one morning and half your life is gone
I got so tired of that; I got so lonely
I dropped down and I called out to heaven
send me someone to love.
And heaven shot back, you get the love that you allow.
And everything is different now

Oh, and its sweet to know
The wisdom that living brings
Since I got a telegram from the God of simple things
She said, "I don't care what you do for a living."
She said, "I don't care what kind of car you drive.
all I want to know right now is what do you believe in
And what it means to you to be alive
Will you stand here in this fire with me?
Are you ready for another life?"
So I bit that bullet and I took that vow
And everything is different now
Everything is different now

Not sure if it's their best, but it is better than anything since Automatic For The People IMO. Accelerate does kind of revisit their various sounds, but they are quite effective at not sounding stale.
