computer help please
my friend has a relatively new dell laptop. XP uses cablevision for ISP. wireless modem,

her problem is she keeps getting black lines across the screen and it runs slow.

we're in different states so i haven't seen the problem. any ideas?

1. Check the router settings ...
(I am assuming that the black lines do not appear any other time). I just got a new D-Link router and in the ISP settings there was a dropdown listing major ISP providers (mine is Comcast). Select and reset the modem.

Else, have her call Cablevision; they should have support for this.

4. Every Dell I've ever had....had to completely wipe the system and reinstall the software from the
recovery disk. Something with their mass imaging of hard drives that doesn't work well all the time. I'll be you a buck that reinstalling from the recovery disc will solve it.
