3. Cool, huh?
Okay, maybe not so much. Or maybe it's cool in hindsight, AFTER you get over the realization that terra firma ain't so firma after all. Every time I'm in an earthquake (they seem to wait for me to get to my brother's in SoCal, and sometimes they follow me home--we've had a couple in NYS) I have that same traumatic realization. Messes with your sense of reality.

4. Wow!
That's a pretty big one for the Ozark Dome...
It says the largest historical earthquake in the region was a 5.4, in 1968.

9. It's pretty scary to suddenly learn that quaking is a really frightening thing for the
earth to be doing.

I'll never forget the Nisqually Earthquake of 2001. That one got my heart pounding...

14. Yep, Nisqually Earthquake of 2001 scared the bejepus out of me!
Most coworkers crawled under their desks but I had all this stuff under there so no room, plus I was in such shock not thinking clearly. One woman, though, went running out of the building. Not smart because if the bricks had started flying it wouldn't have been safe.

Nisqually made a believer out of me!

13. Personally, from Seattle here, I have little Wind Chimes hanging in all my rooms.
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 05:57 AM by Biscottiii
First thought is confusion and blank moments while the building keeps rolling. Like I tell all my guests, if the wind chimes start making noise (inside, where there is NO wind) it's time to bail to the safer places that I've also pointed out. Also have whistles and water in those safe places - away from the windows where glass might break.

Sorry for your scary situation. What can I tell you? It's always scary. Ma Nature doesn't worry about our fears at all.

ETA: Found the Wind Chimes at the $Dollar$ Store. Considered it Cheap Insurance.
