Could a Minister be our building slob?
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 09:02 PM by djohnson
I live in a modest urban neighborhood in a building with about 7 units (Chicago's north side), and as a favor to the owners agreed to help them out with things like yard work, the boiler room, snow shoveling, and picking up trash people leave outside around the building every now and then -- trash that apparently no other resident cares about and would just leave there forever if it were up to them!

There are people here who behave a little strangely. For instance, one time I noticed a grocery store bag full of trash inside one of our barbecue grills, not 15 feet away from the dumpster. Why would someone do this??? Drunk? Stoned?

In order to get to the bottom of this, I decided to get my hands dirty and look through this grocery store bag for evidence of who did it. I didn't find any mail in it, but among the cigarette butts, gum, and soda bottles, I did find a Mapquest printout to a place from 'xxx' E Superior Street. That place turned out to be the address of a vocational director of someone in an Archdiocese. The "To" address was a place called Saint "xxx" Church." Sorry for the "xxx"'s put I don't want to take any chances.

The owner once mentioned that a priest or minister lives in the building.

In the ever-so-intellectual opinions of those here, do you think it reasonable to assume this was him doing a lot of the littering around the building?

I guess this comes as no surprise to most. I just thought that minister types at least tried to be on a higher plane of behavior. I guess not.

Edit: On a side note, I'd like to ask others if they ever bother picking up other people's trash? Do people assume that some fool like me will do it? It doesn't just disappear automatically after all.
