Anyone here take Mucinex?
Not looking for medical advice, just want an idea of how loopy it will make me before I take it. :hi:

1. Twice a day
every day

I have lungs that are prepared at any moment to kill me...

I haven't experienced any side effects. It's a decongestant for your lungs and doesn't seem to make me hyper or drowsy. Drink lots of fluids...

4. Thanks! My MIL gave it to me, and
she said it makes her loopy. But, my cold is firmly settled in my lungs right now, and I'm miserable. Ugh.

Thanks :hi:

13. good to know it's not just me, i did attribute it to the fact that i smoke (i really need to quit)
my daughter also took a few times and it didn't work for her either and she's only 13 and obviously she doesn't smoke.

20. In the hospital,
I had bronchitis, and the doctor prescribed Mucinex, which did jackshit for me.

Robitussin cough suppressant worked beautifully, with absolutely no side effects.

9. I'm about to head out to the store to look for decongestants myself.
I've gone past 'ugh' and into 'can't function like this' mode. :\

10. This is just my own hunch. I've tried Mucinex and some other
things to stop the runny nose and it seems to work but almost every time, the cold or whatever it is, lands in my chest and I end up with something worse than the runny nose. I stay away from all that stuff now.

15. you might need to see a doctor
If you run a fever or feel a lot worse, don't mess around. Remember Jim Henson.

btw, my pharmacist recommended mucinex and sudafed to clear out the crud a few years ago. You might talk to your pharmacist and ask what he/she thinks is the best OTC treatment.

17. No fever, I've been monitoring it
I'm a hypochondriac, so I don't mess around when I'm actually sick, lol. :P

I don't feel any worse, I'm just a miserable sickie, b/c I'm type A and can't stand not being able to do stuff. And, I have SO much to do. But, I'm forcing myself to lay low and just watch Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC America.

Thanks :pals:

16. I was on Mucinex-D last week, no loopiness.
It didn't do much for me, but that's just because the moron doctor didn't realize I had pneumonia, not a cold.

18. I take it when I need it.
MucinexDM, unlike Robotussin with guaifenesin which keeps me seriously wired, does not.

21. It didn't make me loopy but
it gave me palpitations. However, I know a lot of people that don't have that problem and think it works great. :)
