Mr. MG is teaching MG Jr. (4) chess
Kid is a natural--taking to it like a duck to water. Says he doesn't need to think about it--just "knows where the pieces are supposed to go." Little genius. Sure doesn't get it from me--I can't even remember the names of all the pieces. :eyes:

What genius tendencies do YOUR spawn demonstrate?

1. when my son was in Kindergarten, one of his classmates
checked me in 4 moves.... it was very embarrassing, since I had no idea they were all so competitive!

Your son is a beautiful child! Does he play Lego chess? It was a really cute program...

when my son was in pre-school (3, I think or 4) he was teaching letters and numbers to the older kids... and he reads really well and fast.

2. Nothing like an unexpected blitzkrieg.
I tend to do that the first time I play against someone... just to see if they know enough to counter it.

And if they don't, I'll explain how. Then play another game against them, without doing the blitzkrieg. Then for the third game I'll do another blitzkrieg to test and see if they remember how to block it.

They rarely do. :)

3. Oooh, he likes Legos, and today he decided he likes chess
Could be a good match--I'll check it out! :)

Thanks for the compliment--we think he's cute (no idea where he came from!) He is smart, too, but isn't interested in reading yet. However, he's been identifying every type of car he spots on the road since he was 2. (Kindergarten assessment on Friday--this oughta be good! )
