I think the Dali Lama just drove up my street

He has been here for the last three days, speaking at the University. Just now there was a huge screaming of sirens and then two police cars, followed by four black unmarked police cars, followed by about six SUVs, then two more police cars all with lights flashing and sirens blaring drove up the street. The mansion where the University puts up visiting dignitaries is on the other side of the cross street at the end of mine; that must be where they were going.

I heard all the hullabaloo yesterday too but was in the back of the house and didn't look; figured it was fire engines on the cross street. My street is only two blocks long; this kind of drama is very rare.

Goodness! That means Richard Gere just drove up my street too; he's hanging with the Dali Lama.

I guess he really just rode up the street. But if he was driving, apparently he drives a Ford Escape hybrid.

little motor scooter from India. Except maybe it's dangerous to drive a scooter in those robes. Could meet a demise similar to Isadora Duncan's. Hey, maybe he WAS Isadora Duncan, back in that life.

I saw an Al Gore motorcade go by on a road at the end of the block, during his campaign. I never knew there were so many cop motorcycles in MI. Then a bunch of SUV's with blacked-out windows went by. I don't know which one Al was in, he didn't lower the window to wave. He was riding large that night, big carbon footprint (or tire track).

7. I saw his motorcade here in Seattle.

The police were standing at Fifth and Mercer at the bottom of Queen Anne and I was trying to turn on Mercer to get to the freeway. I was stopped there for a good 10 minutes before the motorcade passed me by - a bunch of motorcycles, several SUVs (big GM ones), and a Cadillac limo. Pretty cool, and it totally made up for the fact that I was denied entry to one of his events the day before.
