How do you light something you want to smoke with a candle?
My husband does it all the time and it works for him. Everytime I try to do it, I just get wax on the end and can't get it to burn. He won't tell me the secret. Any advice would be appreciated.

1. My dear cbayer!
Are you holding the thing you want to light over or under the candle?

I don't smoke anything, but the picture I get in my head tells me to put the candle under the thing you want to light.

2. Hey Ms. Peggy!
Do you see the moon tonight? It just came up over the mountain over here.

I have a cigarette and a candle and I just can't seem to light it without it getting covered with wax.

Today is 4/20, at least still here on the Left Coast. I thought some of the pot smokers could help me with one.

5. I did see the moon, but earlier!
It had just come up over my neighbor's roof, and it was magnificent!

I love the full moon!

It is still 4/20 here on the Left Coast, for about 20 more minutes anyway!

Maybe your wick needs to be longer so you can keep the cigarette further away from the candle?

6. Are you planning any trips to Catalina?
We are anchored and rocking a bit from the swell.

As to my *wick* needing to be longer, I will have to talk to Mr. cbayer about that. He is in charge of the wicks.

3. Right
keep the cigarette above the flame and don't touch the candle.

8. How to light a cigar with a candle
I don't recommend this method--you get the flavor of burning wax along with the flavor of burning cigar, and that "waxy" note is one you really don't need if you smoke decent cigars. But for all you fuckers who smoke Phillies Blunts (or just plain old blunts), try this:

Put the candle in front of you. Hold the cigar in your hand at a slight downward angle and move it slowly toward the flame until the flame jumps from the fire to the cigar--about 1/4"-3/8" will do it. Watch the tip and slowly rotate the cigar until the whole end is nicely charred. Then stick it in your mouth and take a good puff. If you get good smoke (you DID clip the end, right?) you're ready to go.

For cigarettes, joints and other things you want to light with them in your mouth, maybe put the tip about half an inch from the flame and draw through the cigarette until it lights?

9. Leave the candle straight up, hold the cigarette over it, not in your mouth, until the end catches
fire. Then quickly puff. Then blow out the end if it's still flaming. I quit smoking years ago, but I've used candles and even electric stove burner elements to light cigarettes in the past.

10. The trick is to light it with the flame FROM the candle, not the candle itself.

11. You don't even have to touch the flame. With a lighter, you can hold the end of a cigarette 2" above
the tip of the flame and it'll still light. That might work with a candle, too, if it's as hot as a lighter flame.

Matches are pretty cheap, though.
