But then, I've always liked Malmsteen - he's a shredder, yes, but not the standard musicless douchebag shredder. He also understands the music. He's an atypical shredder: musician first, then a shredder. Yes, he ventures into self-indulgent shredder douchebaggery far too often, but underneath it all, I think he still knows how to play.

2. It kind of is, but I use the term more for clarity than to distinguish from other shredders,

since, really, all shredders are douchebags, because shredding is douchebag kind of thing.

But I don't like to just say "shredders" without the "douchebag" reminder, because a lot of people don't realize yet that "shredder" actually comes with an implied "douchebag" in front of it. Much like Billy Joel has an implied "The douchebag" in front of his name.
