1. I dunno. How much is easy, permanent labeling of discs worth?
I've never had a need for it, but I don't burn discs. My wife loves hers. I think there have been no mis-fires that require repeated attempts. The thing seems to work.

2. It takes 15 or so minutes to do a disc and you have to buy special discs
That being said, I love it. :)

3. Monochrome, base color of the disc and the lightscribbled area is darker.

4. One of my laptops has it. I played around with it...
...when I first bought the machine and it made a nice job of prettifying a couple of my DVDs. I don't have much use for such "personalization", though, so I haven't used it since.

Cute idea, all the same.

5. They all print in black, so far as I know
There is a dye on the surface of a LightScribe disc. When laser light hits it, it turns into what we offset guys call a "fake duotone"--a colored background with a grayscale image printed over the top of it. The original discs were all gold, but they've added other colors--blue, red and green plus two others I don't remember, sorry.

If your penmanship is as atrocious as mine, you'll like this a lot.

6. Not worth the effort and cost
Unless you're making multiple disks for sale and want them to look semi-pro or you're majorly O-C, a Sharpie pen is easier, cheaper and faster.
