Digital TV repair question (non-HD)
We've got a digital television that's been in our home for years. Lately, the raster lines at the top of the screen have started wrapping over the rest of the screen, resulting in stretched, upside-down versions of the original images. Fortunately, this doesn't happen to the whole screen - just the top quarter of it.

This ever happen to you? If so, how expensive is it to fix?

2. Sounds like...
The deflection yoke going bad, if it's a tube type TV (as in picture tube/non-Plasma or LCD).

If it's projection, more likely a component going south on the deflection or convergence boards.

Plasma or LCD (pure digital) TVs shouldn't ever see this kind of problem.

But my first guess is yoke. Only way to really test it is find a repair shop with a "ringer" for testing yokes and high voltage (flyback) transformers.

If it's the yoke, it can be relatively inexpensive ($100 or so) to insane. (Some yokes are permanently bonded onto the picture tube, necessitating replacing both as an assembly.)

Hope this helps!
