Anybody do Geocaching?
I now work with a woman who has this hobby and I've started going out with her at lunch to find these things. :D

It's pretty fun. :-)

Anyone else do it? What kind of GPS do you have?

1. I use the Garmin from my car....

The Garmin site is tied in with geocaching.com, and you can download cache data directly to the device.

Makes every trip an adventure.

5. My son loves it
honestly it drives me a little crazy, but maybe I'm no fun

I don't know what kind of GPS he has, I can't remember.

He also got really obsessed with finding benchmarks (the stamped circle things embedded often in concrete that will say things like "US Geological Survey". You can find directions to finding those and go look for them in the same or similar ways that you can go geocaching. He did that before he got the GPS. It's fun to get outside, and it's fun to hike around, I don't know what it is that drives me crazy about it. (well I do but it is a stupid reason really)

:hi:

6. Oh yeah--the whole family goes!
We started doing it to get MG Jr. out in nature, and he really loves it...especially when the "treasure" is a stash of cool stuff. And he's over the moon when he finds a car in a cache. We're excited about starting up again now that spring has finally sprung. (Well, we went from winter to summer, apparently--spring lasted about three days this year.)

We have frickin' prehistoric GPSes--a pair of Rinos--the equivalent of those five-pound cell phones from the '80s--you know, the ones that came with shoulder holsters.

7. It's great fun
I use a handheld Magellan. I found some in Florida at Xmas time, and left there a travel bug (Walkingshoe) that had been bogged down in this area for quite some time. From there the thing just took off, went around the world and then some. Right now it's near its origin point in Holland. It's fun watching TB's go. I've only set out one cache myself (Mineral King), but it's only had a couple of visits due to its being in a rather remote, but beautiful and interesting, spot.

9. My son is into it big time...
We hosted one of the caches that was making his way from California to Canada and back. The little bugger visited us on his return trip. He had been on the road two years. We are in Indiana.

However, we did show him a good time while he was here.
