If anyone's been down this way for Fiesta, you know the biggest parade of the 10 days is the Battle of Flowers parade. Schools, businesses, banks, heck even the military, gets the day off to go see the event. As a result, I don't normally go anywhere within 10 miles of the downtown area on the final Friday BUT we've got company in for this and I've gotta go into the fray. Pray for me and the prettily flowered floats! I think I'm already starting to come down with a serious case of Flower Rage!! Last night we went down to the RiverWalk for mariachis on the river and NIOSA. For a Thursday night, it was a crushing (but overall fun) experience. Maybe I truly need to get out more.
:scared:

1. We used to go to Fiesta.
My husband was in Longhorn Band and they marched in the night parade. People along the route would pass them beer up and down the lines so they were all drunk by the time the parade was over! :P

At least it looks like the rain is going to hold off until later tonight. Have fun and don't get crushed! :hi:

2. Yeah Longhorns! Beat them Aggies!
Being one of them Damn Yanks (ya know, the ones that won't go home) I also have learned "Yeah Aggies, Beat them 'Horns" as a matter of self-preservation :-D I haven't been down there in about five years and had forgotten it can be fun if you don't obsess over the crowds. Guess I'll just drive around chanting, "Serentiy, now. Serentiy, now. Serentiy, now."

3. I've lived here for 15 years. Only went to Fiesta once. Never to Battle of Flowers.

4. I'd say you're the smart one!
Did you get the day off for it or just wisely chose to stay away from the drunks?

5. It was so long ago, I don't remember what day we went. It was terribly crowded though, I do
remember that. We ended up down on the riverwalk at Dick's Last Resort. That was more enjoyable.
